I can't believe the amount of students that copy ideas off each other. Creativity has gone out the window and the questions that are being asked in class are basic and are answered already - either verbally by my directions or they are written on a sheet they have. I think that the kids have had WAY too much hand holding and therefore don't have a mind of their own. They haven't had to think before and actually get the chance at being creative. I actually told a kid today I wasn't going to hold his hand to do this project. He seriously asked me a question every minute about the project when I think it was very clearly outlined on how to complete the project and I even showed a sample project. I hope he can handle me not holding his hand. I wish students could be more creative.
Re: Where has the creativity gone?
THIS exactly!
Yes....ugh. I face the same frustrations, Dar. Thinking outside the box isn't something many kids know how to do or even want to attempt!
