grocery shopping..

Hello lovely girls! I have a quick question for you all... I was wondering what grocery store you shop at and for what reason? Convenience, coupons/deals, quality in produce/meat...etc. We usually shop at Fry's for no reason in particular, but looking at the ads today I saw great deals at other stores as well! Any input is greatly appreciated!

Re: grocery shopping..

  • We shop at Fry most of the time as it is the only grocery store within at least 10 miles of my house. The next closest store would be Walmart and the quality/prices there aren't as good as Safeway/Frys.

  • I'm particular to Basha's myself as our main grocer, because A) it's the closest, and B) I like that it's a local company.  Though when Fry's has great deals on something like diet coke we'll stop there.

  • Walmart and Trader Joes. Both are cheap and clean and offer enough healthy/organic options to make me happy (while still wishing I could afford Whole Foods hah)

  • We normally go to Costco for meats, fresh fruit, and any kind of stuff that we can stock up on without it going to waste.  Once every 4-6 weeks usually.

Between trips there, we will go to Basha's or WalMart (both right by home), for milk, eggs, bread type stuff.  If we want fresh veggies or fruit for something in particular, but not enough for a Costco run, we go to Sprouts.

  • Whole Foods for all my milk, cheese, eggs, produce, and meat. I like to by all organic in those item, no exceptions!

I usually go to Albertsons for the fillers, because it is the closest to my house. But I sometimes go to bashas and fresh and easy too.

Man, I wish there was a Fresh and Easy anywhere remotely close to my house.  The one that was to open is still sitting vacant with it's sign covered up.

  • I'm a fan of Bashas. they have some of the items which are difficult to find. My second choice would be Frys but they arn't close to where I live anymore. Bashas has a wonderful meat and produce department as well.

Oh and I don't mind Walmart but hate the crowds you have to endure there so only when I have other things to pick up do I ever do my grocery shopping at Walmart

  • Albertsons is right on the corner, so we go there out of convinence.   But most of the time we go to Walmart- I've found the prices to be wayyyy cheaper than anywhere else, but I rarely buy meat or produce there (I get this stuff at Albertsons).  If I have time I'll go to Sprouts for produce, they're usually really cheap.

  • I usually go to Sam's Club.  Every once and a while I will go to Fry's or Walmart, but usually I have been trying to go to Trader Joes.
  • Usually, Sprouts, Whole Foods and Safeway.

Sprouts - great prices and lots of organic options

WF - I just love that place, and they are the only place I've found my cacao nibs at.  So, since I need to go there for those, we do some other shopping there too.

    Safeway - Closest.

This. But for fillers we usually go to Frye's or Wal-mart. Simply because they are cheap and close by.

(I was really annoyed that I put a - in between wal and mart in my previous response...so had to fix it. Yes, I'm neurotic like that.)

  • TJ's and Sprouts for nearly everything.

The prices are better for the food that we buy (non-processed/organic etc)

I also avoid walmart like the plague

  • I used to shop mainly at Super Target because, well - it's Target so it's awesome. :)

However, now I do 95% of my shopping at Whole Foods due to a changre in how/what we are eating. It's $$$, but I love it.
