OK, so I caved

I was going to do something healthy and/or not candy for Halloweeny this year.  I was in the costco yesterday and I had those dried fruit packets, along with trail mix in my cart when DH called about something else.  I mentioned I had our Halloween stuff--he wanted to know what it was and called me a doofus for wanting to do that.  "We'll be THAT house to do the weird stuff??"  (Even though my one neighbor does toothbrushes and the other does pretzels.)

So, I put back my healthy attempts and we settled on Peppermint Patties.  It's not the worst ever, but it isn't the best either.  At least they'll have minty fresh breath!!

Re: OK, so I caved

  • If you had done that the kids would have remembered to NOT go to that house next year.  Its like A Christmas Story when Ralphie and Randy get socks - they just look at each other like WTF and throw them over their backs.

    Good move Derk.

  • You should have gotten the fruit snacks/rollups.  If I remember right they have a pretty healthy (and tasty) fruit roll up at Costco... and what kid doesn't like fruit snacks?!?!?!  Its ok, I'm going to bring in candy for my Chinese coworkers tomorrow since they don't really understand the concept of Halloween.

I actually had those in my cart too--I kept thinking--if we don't get that many kids, I'll enjoy eating them....but Dh nixed that idea too. Sad

  • I would've come back Derky.

Next year, be strong! Don't let the peer pressure get to ya!

  • it sounds like DH just wants to eat the left over candy!
  • That's the crummy thing--he doesn't "mind" Peppermint Patties, but whereas I LOVE dark chocolate, his big vice is white chocolate.

I think it's all a conspiracy to keep me plump.

  • Well, have you opened them yet? You could always return them and get the fruit snacks.
