Woohoo! DH has a client that has been trying to get us to come up to NYC and stay in their firm's place. We decided it would be fun to go up for Thanksgiving, which is also DH's birthday. It will be like our last hoorah before baby. We've also hosted Thanksgiving for the past 6 years, so we decided not to host this year because we're hosting Christmas. My sister's house is filled up for Thanksgiving and we don't feel like driving 6 hours and dealing with DH's family these days. This will be so nice for a change. We won't have to worry about any plans, except for ourselves!
Anyways, he just confirmed that we get the place for the weekend! I'm so excited because I've never been to NYC. Anyone have any suggestions for where to go for Thanksgiving dinner? haha Any must do's?
Re: Going to NYC!
I am so jealous. I don't have any recs because I've only been there twice, but seriously, I'm so jealous. We took Megabus up there early last December to go shopping and get our picture in front of the Rockefeller tree for Christmas cards. I have been aching to go back ever since the weather has turned cold. I absolutely love it. If we still lived in Baltimore we would be making it a yearly trip for sure. (Going to NYC every year for a Christmas shopping trip sounds so much more glamorous than going to Des Moines with the women in C's family every year for a Christmas shopping trip...but, is life.)
Are you going to try and see the parade? C would LOVE to go to the parade some day. (For a grown man he is really into parades.)
Oh fun!
You will love NYC during Thanksgiving. So much fun.
I'm sure the NJ girls can give some recs- I have a couple friends there and can ask them for you, also.

It will be DH's birthday and Thanksgiving all in one, so we want to eat somewhere really nice. Especially since we're staying for free and flying for free (thanks to all of these china trips). I forget exactly where this place is, but I remember him saying it's like right in the midst of everything. I think near Times Square maybe. I would love your recs
Times square is a great place to be if you've never been before. There's so much there (also a lot of souvienier shops) and all the big restaurants like Hard Rock, Bubba Gump's, and the M&M Store, Hershey Stores, and the giant Toy's R Us.
For Restaurants my favorites are...
Paesano's in Little Italy
El Faro (spanish food in the meatpacking district)
Old Homestead Steakhouse (meat packing district)
Magnolia Bakery Made famous by SJP and the girls on SATC. I don't care if it's trendy and now commerical, they really have the best cupcakes.
This is just a few of my favorites, there are tons of fun little restaurants all over town, especially the corner diners, or local cafes I've found tons of them over the years.

Thanks so much for all of the recommendations ... and the inspiration pic
Being from the area, here is what you MUST do:
1. Top of the Rock
2. See a broadway show (Wicked is my FAVORITE)
3. I prefer Crumbs bakery over Magnolia, but being a pregnant lady I'd treat myself to both
4. Radio City Christmas Spectacular-it's opening Nov 5th. You may be able to get discounted tickets. It is a must see! If you can't find discounted tickets let me know and I can see what I can find for you:)
OMG, on Mulberry Street! That's my FAVORITE RESTAURANT in the world!!
Not very "Thanksgiving," though. I honestly can't think of a good place for Thanksgiving, but I will say this... if you walk the side streets, you find the cutest little places and they all have menus in the windows. I've found more great restaurants just by happenstance like that than I can even remember.
