I heard this story today on the radio:
Kids in Belleville, Illinois could face a fine or even jailtime if they're found to be too old to go door-to-door.
The rule seemed too tough to the people 22News spoke with say it's just in the spirit of the holiday. "I would definitely still give them candy but I would just think it was a little too old," said Jennifer Muscaro of West Springfield.
Louis Siano told 22News, "I don't think any age is really too old because I mean parents go with children, it's all just a good time."
The fine for over-age trick-or-treating in Bellville, Illinois is 100 dollars for kids over the age of 12.
Isn't that insane?? I trick or treated even in high school (I was covered in shaving cream usually, but still) I don't think 12 is too old!
I personally love when I get trick or treaters - do you???
Re: Oh come on now!!!
we really dont' get trick or treaters at all and it depresses me - i want some!!!
that is totally ridiculous.... what if a 12 year old's best friend is 13? they can't go together??
Someone posted on FB today that they are fining kids over 12 here as well, and a fine if you are out after 8pm. Such BS imo.
I love getting trick-or-treaters! It is so much fun, but we dont get too many kus we live on a cul-de-sac, and most kids stick to the main road.

Where did she grow up? I used to live about 10 min from Belleville until I moved in with H. We now live about 30-45 min away. I agree that it's a pretty dumb rule. I went trick-or-treating all thru grade school. I've never had trick-or-treaters, since I've always lived in a apt and it makes me sad.
THAT is Illinois politics at its best!!!!!
They want all of IL to go to that rule.
