Can I get a restaurant recommendation please??
My family (DH and I, DS who is 1yr old, mom, dad and brother) are coming to Phoenix in a couple weeks for the Nascar race. It is my dad's 60th bday and the whole trip is for him. He really wants to go to a Mexican restaurant while we're there and I'm looking for a recommendation. We are staying in Avondale so I'd like to stay in that area for meals. Any restaurants we should check out?
ETA: Also, my mom really wants to go shopping....is there a mall nearby that we could go to?

For Mexican in that are there are a few I'd recommend:
Manuel's Mexican restuarant. 13319 W. McDowell Road. Goodyear www.mauelsaz.com
Old Pueblo Cafe: 102 N. Old Litchfield Road, Litchfield Park
Manny's Mexican Restaurant: 12345 W. Indian School, mannysmexicanfood.com
My pick would be the Old Pueblo Cafe. It's in Old LItchfield Park which is cute. Across the street from the Wigwam Resort. They are all good though!
I haven't been there in a while since I moved up to Cave Creek, but my family always liked Raul & Theresa's for Mexican food. It's really good, authentic Mexican food - not like you get at chain places. www.raulandtheresas.com
As far as shopping, there isn't really a mall in that part of Phoenix. The closest mall would be Arrowhead Mall, or there are a bunch of strip malls if you just drive around.
Ajo Als is my absolute favorite Mexican food but the nearest one would probably be Arrowhead Town Center.
Macayos is also pretty popular around here and they have a location at Litchfield Road and McDowel which will likely be pretty close to where you are staying.
