1st Anniversary in Charleston

Hi ladies. I'm from Philly, and my husband and I have finally decided on going to Charleston for our first anniversary. We have narrowed our search for hotels down to two, and would love your opinions on which one is better. Trip advisor gave them both fantastic reviews, and we are so torn.

We are debating between the French Quarter Inn, and Harbourview Inn. The rooms we like are comparable in price, one would give us views of the water, the other would have a fireplace in the bedroom (we are going in February). Have you stayed at either hotel? Which would you recommend?

Also, any rec's on dinner locations would also be great. Thank you in advance for your help!

  • I've heard good things about the French Quarter Inn, but I don't know anything about the other place.  For dinner, I highly recommend Cypress (on East Bay St.) and McCrady's is really good too.  Both of those are 4 star, so a little pricey, but awesome food!

  • Both hotels are owned by the same group, so they are very similar.  Both have great reputations for service, and they are only a couple of blocks from each other.  Harborview Inn is the only one with a view of the water, which is the reason I would choose it.

Lots of great restaurants.  Cypress is my favorite, but Peninsula Grill and High Cotton are great.  For a little more laid back seafood try Amen Street or Pearlz Oyster Bar.  Jestine's is southern food and gets crowded quickly but is very good.
