BFF is in labor!
I'm so excited I can't concentrate on anything!
But I could use some advice: What would be one thing I could bring to the hospital that would be a good gift? J9 moms, I'm sure you have some ideas on things us non-breeders wouldn't think about. Thanks!

It seemed to go over well when DH and I stopped at Dunkin Donuts on our way down for my nieces delivery. My brother and parents had left in such a rush they'd forgotten about breakfast.
Congrats on her little pumpkin! Its really fun having a bday on/right after Halloween.

Afterward, there shouldn't be any food restrictions. During labor is up to her doctor. One of my friend's had a doctor that wouldn't let her eat a thing (23 hour labor with no food! How is someone supposed to have the energy to push after that!!). Another friend was allowed to eat whatever she wanted during labor.
And yay for baby! Hope the day goes smoothly for her!

My aunt wanted hot dogs right away too. Probably because she gave up all processed meats during her pregnancy...
At the hospital I think some sort of treat for mama & family would be nice, but you could also bring "cute" items for the baby (like a stuffed bear...or a black cat, since it's Halloween!).
I also have been repeatedly thanked for giving diapers as a gift because the new parents tend to run out quickly and don't have lots of time in the first couple of weeks to get to the store. Get a small size too -- my friends' baby is almost three weeks old and still can't fit the "size 1" diapers from Costco that they bought a case of!

Last update I got from her mom was that she's hanging in there and last time she was dilated 4-5 cm. So I have no idea when baby will actually arrive! I'm absolutely going crazy waiting - cannot relax at all!

A little late but here are some ideas if you have not already done something:
Diapers = gold in our house. Always a perfect gift. Depending on the weight of baby though, you will want to pick size carefully. NB is 5-8 lbs, size 1 is 8-12 lbs so if baby is on the top end of NB size, buy up.
On another note, it is ironic how having a baby can make you feel completely un-womanly. It is so easy to feel bad about your appearance at a time when so many people want to visit and take pictures. A little something to make mom feel beautiful is something not a lot of people think of. An inexpensive piece of jewelry, favorite product, or certificate for a beauty treatment are all things that can help. One of the best things I received in the hospital was a box of chocolates and I don't even like chocolate that much!

vh - Labor was not smooth. She wasn't progressing like she should so she got induced and had an epidural. After pushing for two hours the baby was sunny side up and had to be vacuumed out! And after an episiotomy, bff is not feeling that great.
