Halloween Recap

Some kids are rude!  I gave a kid a HANDFUL of candy (we had a lot) and he gave one back and asked for the kit kat.  I was like WTH?  Be grateful!

Another kid just grabbed the candy from my hand instead of opening his bag and didn't bother to acknowledge me.  No, "Trick or Treat" , "Happy Halloween" or anything.

However, I got take Minnie Mouse, A Texas Longhorn Cheerleader and  Hot Dog around to Trick or Treat.  This was MM's first year to do it as she wasn't walking yet last year.  She was in heaven and leading the pack!

Best costume award goes to the kid dressed as Tony Romo with a walking stick and sunglasses (blind).  I was cracking up!

Best kid award goes to the kid I was joking with that he couldn't have candy because he had on a UT jersey and lifted it up only to show me he had a Texas Tech shirt on underneath - he got double candy, lol!

Best schmuck award goes to the kid dressed as Jacob from Twilight.  I told the 4 year old in front of him how cute he was and "Jacob" looked at me and then to his stomach expecting I would say the same about him.  Um, no - you are 13 and your stomach does nothing for me.

Tell me your Halloween stories!

Re: Halloween Recap

  • That's really funny about Romo kid!!! Ha!

    I DESPISE douchy kids...kids with no manners...urgh!!!

H was handing out beers to the parents- he gave 5 out- which was all he needed to win a bet with a neighbor! The parents loved it! My favorite personality was this little girl, who was little red riding hood (I think for the second yr in a row)- Wow was she cute. Maybe 3 or 4 max. So H gives her candy, and the dad and H are talking and she thinks they aren't looking. So the bowl was on the ground, and she quietly takes another. Looks at both (forgetting I was there...laughing at this) and then looks at them again...and another piece in her little bag. He dad was like "sweety! no!!" I said it was fine bc she was just too damn cute.

There was also a little guy dressed in Pats gear, helmet and all, and he barely could see he walked into a planter on the ground :)

  • Trick or treating was... interesting.  We went with my sister's neighbors & their kids, so it was fun to have a group.  But this one bossy couple who lives near her just took over the whole scenario.  The mom was freakin' LOUD about everything.  And the husband, though nice, kept making the kids stay on the sidewalk until HE went up and rang the bell to see if anyone was home and ready for trick or treaters, and THEN the kids could go up for their candy.

But isn't half the fun of it the kids rushing to each door like a pack of vultures?  Really?

And he kept making them line up in a straight line and be orderly "like in school."  He actually said, "like on school."  While trick or treating.  On a Sunday.  That even made ME feel bad.

Yet... yet... he kept leading them across the lawns to the next house!  I was taking my nephew back down the walk to the street to go to the next house and he was leading them over people's lawns.  Isn't trampling someone's landscaping worse than clumping at the door and clamoring for candy?  It was weird.

Oh, and after about the first half hour my nephew, who hadn't had a nap yet, completely sacked out so we just brought him to the doors so people wouldn't look at my BIL like he was some weird adult dressed up and looking for candy.  It was like "Look!  I have a kid with me!  He's right there (pointing).  I'm not a dirty old man."  LOL

    OMG so funny Smile

  • Yeah. The Tony Romo costume wins this year. I swear, kids can get so creative. The 13-year-old expecting to get props for being Jacob cracked me up, too.

JJ was not feelin' walking around the neighborhood, but he LOVED passing out candy. We'd put the bowl by his hand, he'd grab a handful, then he'd put it in the trick-or-treater's bag. It was SO cute. I wish we'd gotten it on video - got a lot of pictures though.

We only got like, 15-20 trick-or-treaters this year, so we have a ton of extra candy. Yesssssss.

  • ebonie, my sis said my nephew loved handing out candy, too - lol!

well, i can't really tell you what our two ToTers were. the first had a sword though (maybe a ninja?) and as he was trying to open his back almost hit me in the face w/ the sword.  the big bag of leftover candy that DH was supposed to take to work is still on the kitchen table. not good! yes, i've been sampling the goods.
