I had Office 2010 Beta until Yesterday when it EXPIRED!!!!! AHHHH when I bought this computer I was told it would not expire.... a year later it did! So now I went to control panel and uninstall. Then I went and downloaded a free trail on microsoft.com called quick to run.... It won't work and now won't uninstall. I don't know what to do, I cannot open any documents or pictures on my computer now and need help! Any suggestions? Any phone numbers of someone to call? Please help Thanks
Re: XP Microsoft Office Help
Whoever sold you the computer misled you.
Trial versions sold with computers almost always expire, and anything marked "Beta" will eventually expire too.
I don't know what you mean by "quick to run." Is this where you downloaded the free trial of Office 2010? http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/try/try-office-2010-FX101868838.aspx?WT%2Emc%5Fid=mscom%5Fenus%5Fbnr%5Ftryq2
Office (or the lack of Office) shouldn't impact your ability to open pictures on your PC. Are you getting error messages?
I would suggest contacting support -- http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support&CTT=114#tab0
If you are talking real time with a support person it will probably get you a faster resolution than me trying to help.
It also looks like they have a chat option (in addition to phone and email support). If you use email support be detailed in your email on your repro steps, it will help you get a faster resolution. Ex:
1. I bought an XX Brand computer in Aug. 2009 with a beta version of Office
2. It expired on Nov. 1, 2010, and so I went to control panel and uninstalled it.
3. I went to microsoft.com/trials and downloaded a trial version of Office (OfficeTrialFileName.exe)
4. I installed and got no errors but when I try to do X, nothing happens. When I try to do Y, something different happens.
HTH
The other fast temporary fix that I can think of is downloading free open office package:
