Election Day observations/rant

1) don't forget to vote today!

2) I'm so relieved that today is election day because the political ads here in Minnesota have been HORRIBLE.  There really haven't been any "nice" ads about what each candidate is for.  They're all attack ads about what the OTHER candidate did wrong in the view of the opposing running mate.

3) I had 3...3! people ring my bell last night asking me if I knew where my polling place was.  They're hitting up my 'hood hard because it is historically a low voter turnout area.

4) I got really peeved this morning because one party's representatives went around and put flyers not only in the mailboxes, but the doors AND under the wipers of every car.  I don't appreciate that. at. all.

5) I can only imagine that this is a universal theme but one set of candidates in our races are all about the environment.  I can get behind that.  However, the ones who are all "go green" seem to be the ones with the most paper that is showing up on my doorstep.  Save a tree people!

Re: Election Day observations/rant

  • I just want the phone calls to stop.
  • I am over the political ads on tv as well.  It seems that those are the ONLY commercials they have been showing and ours are full of mud slinging too.

  • It will be nice when the phone calls stop.  Half of my electronic voting ticket was blank, though.  I refused to vote for people who were running unopposed.  After seeing so many unopposed, I left with the thought that I need to prepare myself to run in the next election!

  • Can I also say as a Canadian with no part whatso ever in this election but with 80% of my television channels being syndicated from America I am also over the ads. I didn't know who any of these people were but I know that I know them better then practically any Canadian candidate that ever ran. You don't get alot of campaign ads on TV in Canada. Mostly mailers and print ads.

  • OMG I will be so glad when the phone calls stop!  The bad thing is they're all automated so it isn't like I can pick up the phone and tell them to stop calling me. So I just have to let it ring and go to the answering machine and delete them all. I swear we've gotten about half a dozen per day for the last month. Aahhhhh! It's insane!

LoL, that's horrible.  God bless Canada for being patient with America.

  • We don't have a house phone, so hooray no phone calls. But I seriously want to punch one of the people in the face! She's running for state house, and she put a sign in our yard WITHOUT ASKING! And we've been receiving a mailer from her DAILY for about a month... and the last week it's like 4 or 5 a day. NO JOKE. And she says she's going to try to institute "green initiatives." Bullcrap.
  • DH said last week that somebody should run for whatever office and their slogan should be "vote for me because I'm not a jerk."  They'd win in my book by a landslide! :)

  • *groan*  Our Governor's race doesn't yet have a winner.  The candidates are separated by less than half a percent so there is a mandatory re-count.  We just had a re-count in our senate election last go round.  While its cool that I live in a state essentially equally divided, it is getting old.
  • i am just glad its over...its been so funny watching the policians' commercials here in Alabama:

::country accent:: "here in alabama, we speak english. If you come to alabama, you need to learn it."

My jaw has dropped a few times because of the things I've heard!
