So I have been in a fashion rut lately. Not really much of a style just really simple things. I went shopping on Sunday. I went to about 20 stores and tried on alot of things but bought NOTHING. Never happened to me before. I see all my friends wearing these cute clothes and put together really creative outfits but I'm just not that creative. ARGH! Very frustrating. Anyone want to go shopping for me and pick out my clothes? Like today I'm wearing a dark grey sweater with a dark purple tank, jeans, and dark grey flats. Boring! And to make it worse is that right now I'm in between sizes so nothing really fits right. Thanks for letting me vent.....
Re: Shopping vent....
So, I'm not always the most put together person in the world, but.... I find that if you add jewelry, a scarf, a hat, etc to any outfit it can make it look more "put together."
Sometimes I look on clothing websites to get a general idea of what I'm wanting for before I go shop. It can be really intimidating for me to put an outfit together if I don't know what I'm looking for before I go in.
I feel ya girl!
I could have easily wrote this post. I agree with you! I have been throwing on things lately that I absolutely hate. I think at times I appear older than my 26 years.
I have resolved that I am going to make some changes in my life. We are going shopping next weekend in Dallas and my sister (ironically a personal stylist) will help me with my dilemma. I told her I want to look funky yet professional. I am stoked! I have to post pics of my new wardrobe.
Ditto the bolded. Get yourself some big pieces of jewelry and some funky scarves. Super easy to add some flair. I love big hoops and multi-strand necklaces. Accesories make such a difference.
I have the exact opposite problem. I feel like I look about 19 years old usually. Of course, that's probably due in large part to the fact that pretty much all of my clothes the fit me are from college. It's not even close to in our budget for me to go clothes shopping... I SO wish that I could. Sometimes I wish someone would vote me onto What Not To Wear just so I could get the shopping spree. The problem is, I KNOW what clothes I want, and feel that I have pretty good style... But I just don't have the money for it.
Also, I can't wear about 1/2 the clothes in my closet because they no longer fit me... I had an office job years ago and have all these cute business casual clothes, but then I lost about 20 lbs and the clothes just hang in my closet staring at me.
OP- I would LOVE to live vicariously through you and be your personal shopper.
I should add that I don't look like some teenager's mom or anything, I am just forced (due to my field) to look professional. I usually wear slacks, cardigans but only jeans on weekend.
Good thing is that I have a youthful face (rather babyish) but I act a bit older... hmmm... does any of that make sense?
Ditto to the bolded. I would love for Stacey and Clinton to dress me. I don't have a problem with dressing casual but my problem is dressing up. Right now all my "nice" clothes fit me all weird and I think they age me (older). I wish I could dress cute and funky but for my age (26).
I have slowly started buying cute chunky looking jewlery and scarves. And I also generally dress in neutrals and then add a pop of color either with shoes, jewlery, or my purse. I'm trying I just went to Khols and bought some really cute sweaters and cardigans with tanks (which one tank only cost me $1.20
). So maybe this is a good step in the right direction to get out of my rut.
That being said, you've always been dressed cute when I've seen you
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I used to love shopping in high school and beginning of college. Now I hate it. I want someone to go shopping with me and tell me what to buy! Oh, and give me the money to buy it
