was yummy! Here's what we had:
Chile - Shrimp with Cilantro Salsa. Cost $4 for 4 shrimp in some salsa. Not exactly reasonable, but yummy!
Mouse Hunts (I think that's what it's called) - trio of cheeses. Two out of the three cheeses were yummy. My DH said the other tasted like a wet washcloth. lol...
Spain - churro with chocolate sauce - yummy, but I think my churro was a bit stale.
Germany - sausage with saurkraut in pretzel roll. Very cute little sausage on a small pretzel hot dog roll. Tasted good, but nothing to write home about.
China - Pork Pot Stickers and Chicken Sha Cha. Pot stickers were DELICIOUS ($3.50 for 2). The Chicken Sha Cha, unfortunately, went in the trash can.
The one near the American Pavilian (I forget!) - Crab Cakes and Lobster Roll. Very good crab cakes. DH ate the Lobster Roll because I don't like mayonnaise-y things (it was like a lobster salad). He said it was decent, but could've given a better portion.
Canada - Ice wine (forget how they spelled it). VERY fruity - DH loved it and wanted to buy a whole $122 bottle of it. Didn't happen..lol
We're planning on going back in 2 weekends to give the other foods a shot. It was fun and neat trying foods from different places. We ended up skipping lunch and dinner and just munched on our samples from all over.
Re: Food and Wine Festival yesterday...
We loved the Manti with Yogurt Sauce from Turkey, the New Orleans set up (they had a little area sponsored by the Louisiana Tourism Board) - the shrimp etouffee was AWESOME, the kefta in morrocco, the seared beef medallion atop cheese polenta from san fran ... .yummy yummy!
our secret is to get there early on the weekends and enjoy lunch -- otherwise it gets too crowded and we are hate to stand in lines, we'll just catch those eats on another visit!
I went and I have to say I was disappointed. I guess its because I thought it was going to be a little more gourmet, hotter, and nicer put together and the portions would be bigger.
It was my dh and I and we would have literally had to spend over $100 to just barely get full and that's with no alchool.
I'm a big fan of different cultures foods and love Indian, Persian, Spanish, Irish, etc. And some of the things I tried didn't really have the flavor. For example, I tried the kefta and thought that for Moroccan food it was really bland. Moroccans usually use lots of spices and it tasted thrown together.
I also had the crabcakes and while they were alright they weren't amazing.
I guess I was just expecting a little more and was disappointed. But then again I'm a crazy foodie and expect a lot.
