I took a camera class and the instructor said that later on it would be good to get a lens that lets in a lot more light. I have the 18-55mm lens that came with my camera and I don't want to break the band.
I am looking at the 55-200 lens. Does anyone have it? Is it a wider lens? If not, do you have any recommendations?
Thanks for your help.

Re: nikon d3000 lens upgrade
I have that lens, but it won't do what you want. It's a great zoom lens and I love it, but it's not meant to let in more light. It's just meant to zoom futher. It should actually let in less light.
I don't have a rec for a wider lens... sorry. You could try asking on the photography board on TheBump.
