Homemade Granite Cleaner

Happy mid-week everyone!

I moved into a house with a granite kitchen countertop. Before, I was mixing up a cleaner made of Dr. B's, vinegar, and water for laminate. I did some research, and granite can really get messed up if cleaned with vinegar.

I bought Method brand's everyday granite cleaner (its awesome), but I'd love to make something instead. I read on a blog once that you can wash it with a pH balanced dish soap, but I found that rinsing that off is a never ending process.

 Any ideas? TIA!

Re: Homemade Granite Cleaner

  • When visiting my MIL, I clean her granite counter tops with dish soap, water, and a sponge just like she does.  It really doesn't seem any different than cleaning any other counter top to me.  If you are having trouble getting it rinsed off, you may be using too much soap.  I wet my sponge in the soapy dish water rather than applying soap directly to the sponge.
  • I think I'll just continue to do this. I'll try less soap-the time I did it was infuriating- bubbles bubbles everywhere! Tongue Tied Thanks for your input!
  • I use a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water.
