Help me out ladies. My yard needs some liveliness! I love
In my front yard. I have a large maple tree with purple leaves. I have yellow day lilies planted around it. There's a sidewalk that leads up to the house, and an evergreen shrub on each side next to the porch.
The backyard is pretty plain. It's fenced in all the way around. Behind the garage is my vegetable garden, as well as a tree. My back fence along the alley has (what I have been told by a neighbor to be) sweet pea. It's viney, has very pretty flowers, and then gets pea pods on it. Not sure if they are edible or not. I have a small twisted willow planted towards the back fence.
The fence that we share with the neighbors is completely bare. I would like some sort of privacy plant along there, but not sure what to get. There is a locust tree (with huge thorns!) by this fence.
I run a daycare out of my home, so I need everything to be child and pet proof.
We have a large back deck, and I just got the idea to try grape vines or something to grow up the deck for some privacy.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Need landscaping ideas
We need more information. Are these areas sun or shade? How much water will they get? How dry is the soil? What kind of soil do you have?
And what exactly are you looking for? Just plants to grow on your fence?
Mostly partial shade. The back fence is full sun. The soil seems to be fertile and rich. I grew a nice vegetable garden without any type of fertilizer. It's very dark, moist soil.
Yes, I would like plants on and beside the fence and some flowers that are easy to care for.
I'd recommend native plants since they are easy to care for.
Hostas are also easy shade plants and can be found inexpensively. Here's a whole list of shade plants I wrote out in another post:
