V- Reader... as christmas gift

I dont have children, but I do have 2 nephews that are 5 and the other is roughly 2 going on 3...  I keep seeing these V-readers everywhere... how do they work?  At what age range are they good for?  They are roughly $50.00 so does anyone know if they come with games already downloaded on them?  Do you have to buy them additional games?  Do you think this would be a good gift?

They are recommended 3-7. From what I can find it doesn't look like they come with games included. Additional games are probably good, about $25.

I would ask their parents. They might not like the idea of an interactive reader rather than real books. It's also a money comittment, when the kids get tired of the one book, they will need to buy a new one, or one at the next reading level.

I don't have kids, but personally wouldn't like my kids to have one of these. But, they might love the idea.

I am actually considering getting my little boy one of these the reviews are great except for the fact that there are not a whole lot to choose from when it comes down to buying stories and also they go through batteries like crazy...but its in the right age group and the stories are about 15 dollars at toys r us right now theyre usually 20..you should read some of the reviews on toys r us and walmart theres not alot but none are totally negative

You could also consider the mobigo.. i am buying that for my 3 year old..the ages on there are 3-6 i think. You can check it out here They are regularly $59.99 but toys r us has them for $49.99 for the xmas season right now
