Help for family photo session!!!!
I decided to post this here because of how creative everyone is on this board. I am just looking for ideas for a family photo session we are doing on the weekend. I always see great family pics with cute props and families dressed in co-ordinating but not matching styles. We're trying to pull it together quickly. We're not really a Galoshes, Umbrellas, and Jeans type of family. Here's what I had thought of so far:
Clothing: Deep deep navy, black, grey, white. Guys in sportscoats. Girls in knee high boots.
Props: ??? I got nothing.

As far as clothing goes, I'd do colors. Black, white, gradients thereof, and patterns do not photograph well. Colors (especially jewel tones) reflect light back into your skin, which makes you look more alive. Black and white wash you out.
Where are you taking the pictures? Will it be indoors or out?

If you stick with those colors I would add pops of color with hot pink or deep purple accessories for the girls and even the same, like ties for the guys.
Props like wild flowers for the girls to hold, put in your ear.
Cupcakes, cotton candy, ice cream cones, large whimsical lollipops.
A red wagon, cool old chair, chaise or ottoman.
Brightly colored (spray painted) large empty frames for you to hold.
