Annoyed.

Everyday I get majorly dressed up for work.  I LOVE getting dressed up for work, its probably my favorite part of the day (lame, I know, but I LOVE it) and no one EVER compliments me on how I dress or even acknowledges how I dress, which is fine.  Generally, I am way more dressed up than my coworkers which is important to me given who I report to.

Today, I am wearing slacks, flats, a fitted Thunder shirt (its a good quality shirt) and a suit jacket. Its hot as fvck in my office so I have taken the jacket off.  I would like to point out that I am as dressed up as everyone else usually gets.

These are the things I have heard:

"Oh, is it casual Friday or something?" (this is from the guy that wears SHORT SLEEVED BUTTON UPs to work)

"Did you make that shirt?"  (WHAT?!?!)

"Nice T-shirt" (it is clearly not a t-shirt)

"Oh, it must be t-shirt Friday"

and various other tacky comments. 

Anyway, perhaps I deserve it, I don't know, but I think its rude.

I would probably be annoyed too, my husband dresses nicer than his office 99% of the time.  Last Friday he wore tennis shoes because his boss had been giving him a hard time about wearing his nice shoes on "jean days" and he was harassed, not the right word but I can't think of the word" all day.  He put his dress shoes on this morning because he was so uncomfortable last Friday.

I guess they same thing would be said if someone who usually dresses casually dressed up one day. My office is very casual (I wear jeans every day) so if I came into work that I usually don't wear (like a dress with heels) I know the guys would something like "why are you so dressed up?".

It is very annoying but I guess it's different from what they are used to seeing you dressed up in.

I have to wear dressy stuff to work every day - but when I wear a dress, everyone asks me what the special occasion is. Um, I just chose to wear something that wasn't pants? It's not like I wore a ball gown to work. Sheesh.

I'd be annoyed, too. I'm sure they were just a little taken back...but still.

Same thing happens to me.  I dress nice every day, but typically wear pants.

Ugh---I don't understand why anyone (except perhaps a boss to a truly inappropriately dressed employee) would ever feel the need to make a negative comment (or something that could be perceived as a negative comment) about someone else's appearance.

E.G., "You look like you feel TERRIBLE today!"

          "You look SO much better now that you've lost 10 pounds!"

          "Hmm...that outfit is...interesting."

If you can't say anything nice...

Ugh, that is annoying, but good for you for dressing up!  I get annoyed that some of my coworkers dress so much more casual than me.  It doesn't annoy me b/c I dress so nicely (I wear flats, slacks and a cute top, so dressy casual), but b/c every.single.time we have a staff meeting the fact that some of the teachers dress too casually is brought up--but nothing changes!  They continue to wear jeans 2-3 x a week (we're only "allowed" to wear them on Fridays), wind pants, and those velour (I think?) suit things.  I want to wear jeans too, dang it!

  at the velour. My first teaching job, there were quite a few people that dressed like the above. It was frightening.

Whenever I get compliments on how nice I look, I always wonder how sh!tty I must have looked the day before!
