Going to Chicago this weekend - any recs?
Hi ladies!
I just found out I am going to Chicago this Thursday - Sunday for work. Although I will be working the majority of it, I think I will have a little time to grab some dinners out & do a little sight seeing / shopping on Saturday afternoon. Any suggestions of must places to eat/shop/see?
I will be staying at the Hyatt @ McCormick Place, which from what I understand doesn't have much besides the convention center.
Also, where is THE place to get a Chicago deep dish?
Thanks! I am looking forward to it, as it is my first visit!
Re: Going to Chicago this weekend - any recs?
you will get different answers from different people... but I think Lou Malnati's is THE place for Chicago deep dish. its my favorite by far!
and yeah, there isn't a ton to do around McCormick Place, but taxis are plentiful, and there is a bus line (the #3) that runs straight from the convention center and up Michigan Ave.
If you have time, I highly recommend the architectural river boat tours (they sell tickets at the corner of Michigan and Wacker), and grab some drinks at the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the Hancock.
A restaurant that is not too far from the convention center (but don't walk...take a cab) is Quatro, and its fantastic Latin food.
Because we're fancy like that.
My fave for deep dish is Gino's East, but you can't go wrong with Lou Malnati's, Pizzaria Uno/Due, or Giordano's either.
I have a list of my favorite Chicago restaurants (with websites) in my bio.
Hope you have fun in our fine city!
