Non clicky-poll... Birthing Pics

DH and I were watching a movie tonight that showed a person filming a woman giving birth.  I'm surprised this issue hasn't come up with all the Octobabies arriving.

Regardless of whether or not you have kids, are pregnant, or will be pregnant some day... what's your opinion on cameras in the delivery room?

Not a chance in Hades! In fact, DH and I had a discussion this very evening about him keeping his head up by mine if/when I am delivering. He convinced me to let him peek at the end because it only happens once or twice in a lifetime and he wanted to witness it. He also swore that it won't wig him out or make him think icky thoughts about having ST with me afterwards. LOL! I'm so paranoid.

Filiming the actual birth - no way.  However, having the camera handy for immediately after is OK in my world.  As long as the pics stay above the belly button it is fine by me.

I'm with witty. We had our camera in the delivery room, but NO photos were taken until he came out (except for one last picture of my belly since we hadn't taken a final one). There were no photos of him coming out (and there wouldn't have been if I had him vaginally, either). 

You will want a camera of some sort in the delivery room so you can capture those first moments because they will never look like that again!

I agree with no video cameras though - not for the delivery. There were a few emotional moments during my labor that I would not want to live again, nor have any of my friends or family see (which was another reason that only Juan and I were in the delivery room!).

Absolutely not.  I agree with pp and pictures of baby's first moments are fine, but none of the actual delivery.  I just don't understand why people would want pictures (or videos!!) of that process.  I get that it's the miracle of life, etc, but gross.  End result only, thanks.

This. I'm a pretty private/modest person and the act of giving birth in a hospital setting is going to be humbling and embarrassing enough without having it documented by a video camera!

We had a camera in the room but there were absolutely no pictures taken until Peyton was on the scale getting weighed. ?We had no one in the room with us either- no one needs to see that and we dont' need any pictures of it either. ?:)

DH had our camera, but no pics were taken until they put Jaiden on the scale and then when they bundled him up in a blanket.

If I was having a vaginal birth, then my answer would be no... no pics below my waist.  Since I am having a scheduled C-section (she's still breech), I told my husband to get pictures of her as they are pulling her out.  That may be gross to some people but I find it completely fascinating.  I really wish I could see it all happening.  He has refused because he is a wuss when it comes to blood and guts and is worried about passing out.  From what I understand, there will be a sheet completely covering me with the exception of the incision site so all he will see is my skin (and possibly some guts) and our little girl coming into the world.  I guess we will have to see if he can stomach (pun intended) it.

Ditto! Definitely have one around for right after, and maybe even a photo or two of me and DH before things get going... but no, erm, action shots. Thanks.
