Whats your fave local restaurant to eat in KC?

break it up if you need to mexican, italian, BBQ, etc...

I love to hear new ideas of places to check out!

Re: Whats your fave local restaurant to eat in KC?

  • For Mexican we love... Mi Ranchito, Mannys, Tarahuma

We also have become big fans of La Bodega downtown- their happy hour is great!

  • For something different I love Jazz! It's unique and fun.?

    Also, I second La Bodega.

  • Ooh, and although it's probably a ways out for you, there is a barbecue place in Bonner/Edwardsville called Papa Bob's. Great little hole in the wall joint with fabulous barbecue!

  • we love Spin pizza (Olathe, OP, and Lees Summit locations) and Oklahoma Joes as well as Jack Stack.
  • oh we LOVE spin pizza also! sooo good!
  • Oh holy cow - you girls are killing me here. I wish this d@mn stomach flu would pass!

    Mexican - Mi Ranchito
Pizza - Papa Keno's (old OP)
    Italian - Lidia's
Steak - Plaza III or Skies

  • Ooh, Papa Keno's is the best!

Also, even though it's not really "local," Cinzetti's (119th and something???) is the best Italian place ever.

This is making me hungry and it is not dinner time yet...

  • I miss Jazz :( There used to be one right near us in LS & it closed. We haven't been to the other locations yet. I liked their coonass chicken (probably as much for the name as for the taste!)

Thai/Asian: Red Snapper on State Line

BBQ: Arthur Bryant's for very casual, Jack Stack for slightly less casual

Steak: Hereford House (disclaimer: I haven't tried the really fancy restaurants yet)

Anyone tried the Peachtree? I know there is a relatively new location at Summit Woods & the 18th & Vine location is moving to the P&L district. I was wondering how it was.

  • La Bodega is my fave.

Also love Lidia's, 1924 Main, Cassis, Skies, Mr. Sushi or Siki (both in Lee's Summit), or The American for fancy schmancy special night out stuff.

  • La Bodega is WONDERFUL!  Go during happy hour for the best prices on their menu though.

Also, Le Fou Frog on 5th in the Rivermarket has a great happy hour menu too.  It's pretty pricey on the other side, but we love it for a special occasion.  Smile

Mi Ranchito has the best margaritas - and cheap too...  Gawd, I'd kill for one of those...  Sad

If you like Indian try Swaggat in Zona Rosa or Korma Sutra in Westport.  Both have excellent lunch buffets.  I tend to lean more towards Swaggat because it's more refined.  I go there once a week...  Sometimes I've been known to hit it more frequently.  Embarrassed  Great Chai!

Indian: Ruchi (College & Antioch in OP) - they have a New Year's Eve buffet we are hitting up tonight :)

    BBQ: Jack Stack

I also love Spin :) and I will have to check out La Bodega!
