dish cloths

Our house currently has no dishwasher, so we have to hand wash all of our dishes.  To date, I've always bought the bulk packs of sponges at Costco, but would like to change over to reusable dish cloths.  Do you have any specific dish cloths you'd recommend?  I'd like something that can still scrub well at pots and pans.  Suggestions?

Re: dish cloths

  • I just use a cotton dishcloth for most of the dishes, and steel wool for pots and pans that need scrubbing. I find it doesn't get stinky and gross like a sponge does.

  • Do you knit at all? If you have even basic knitting skills (or want to learn!) it's super easy to whip some up with one of these patterns. I am a VERY much a beginning knitter, and I use the Sugar 'n Cream yarn, which is inexpensive but 100% cotton so it's absorbent and good for scrubbing. They come together really quickly, and I find it just makes me happier to use something pretty and handmade!

  • mostly we use knit ones (from family members). We do have a few store bought dish cloths as well.
