Best inexpensive laptop without bells/whistles?
DD wants a laptop for Christmas, and I'm a little overwhelmed by the selection out there. She'll use it primarily for checking email and Facebook, downloading digital photos from her camera, and the occasional word document or powerpoint. No gaming or anything like that.
I'd like to spend as little as possible, since it will likely get dropped or left at a friend's house. Once she's older, we can upgrade. Any recommendations (or advice on what to AVOID buying) are greatly appreciated!

I just bought a HP laptop for about $400 from best buy. Pretty basic, but has a duel processor so it's supposedly a little faster than a single.
