Monday Random

Hope you all had fun and productive weekends.

I'm a bit lost this morning. My AM Radio show was pulled friday from the air and replaced with Glen Beck. I AM MAD! Because just what we need is another political talk show pushing an agenda. I don't really get involved with politics and I'm really not up for the preaching type. I have a mind I can use it to make my own decisions. I have nothing to listen to in the AM mornings. I don't really like the FM stations in the AM because of the music and when they are talking it seems they try to hard to be funny. I could listen to NPR, but sometimes the voices over there make me want to hit my head against the wall. I'm sad. Crying

SS is home this week from school b/c of being suspended from something he said (as a joke) to another student. He knew it was wrong right after he said it and even made sure the kid knew he was joking but they still suspended him for a week. I understand getting in trouble but suspended him from school for a week. Times have changed a lot. When we got in trouble in school we had in-house suspension, but now they just boot you right out and hide behind "it's the policy". Thanks GRPS for giving kids a reason to get into trouble so they wont have to come to school.

Hopefully someone else had a better weekend than we did.

Re: Monday Random

  • Yikes!  I'm curious to hear what he said, but at the same time don't want to know what caused him a full week of OSS.  Tongue Tied   I'm hoping the school over reacted.  Sorry about your crappy weekend.  :(

I had a good weekend.  H did a TON of yard/outside house work, and I cleaned a ton.  Yesterday I went shopping and then relaxed by our bonfire last night.

Almost have the entryway finished.  It will be the first room in the new house that I can check off the "To Do" list.  I just need a chair, and then it's pretty much finished.  Whew.

  • My aunt invited Tennyson over for this coming Friday night.  Yay.  Date night.  Party!!!
  • Morning!

I went to a birthday party on Saturday for our neighbor's 2 year old.  Our neighbor is a doctor...the party was full of doctors and their little kids.  Nick and I were the only non-doctors there and we didn't have kids.  Awkward.

  • Weekend was long!

My husband was up at 5am on Saturday and out of the house by 6, to make it to Lansing by 9 to take the MPRE. My oldest was up that morning at 7, and wouldn't believe me when I told her it was still night time and to go back to sleep. My husband was home by 1, and he worked on his race car for the rest of the afternoon to let off the steam of being stuck inside the house the last 2 days studying.

Saturday night, we went to a banquet for Winston Speedway. Dinner, and free beer is always a good time out, haha. It was the first time we left the baby with a sitter. We had a lot of fun, our first night out together without a kid in a really really long time.

Yesterday, we just hung around the house. He worked on the race car, I cleaned up the house a little. Watched a little NASCAR, and took a nap.

  • Hi!

Molly, I saw the pictures of your entryway on FB.  It looks great!  You've got great style.

My weekend had it's ups and downs.  On Friday, SIL and her new BF came over.  He seems like a good guy, and she seems to really like him.  However, we went out on Friday night and she got way, way, WAY too wasted and I question if seeing her like that may have changed his opinion of her slightly.

Saturday was nice.  We mostly relaxed, had a quick visit with my parents who were driving through GR, and then went out and had a great dinner at Red Ball Jet Cafe.

Sunday, was meh.  H and I ended up getting in an arguement which ruined the day.  Sad

I hate that.  H and I got into an argument Saturday night.  I'm fed up with letting our fights get out of hand and go on forever, so I tried to nip it in the bud and get it over with as quickly as possible.  It didn't last long, but I know that's not always possible.  Sorry.  :(  I haaaate arguing.

How old is your SIL again?

  • So I sent out my first two law school apps yesterday. One of the schools confirmed receipt today. I am so excited! The plan is to send off another two tonight and to send the last one tomorrow. I cannot believe this is finally happening and feel kinda proud of myself.

    Awesome!  That's super exciting.

  • Kasa - Sorry about the argument and wasted SIL.  At least the guy was nice?

    DP - You go girl!

Our weekend was great.  We went out for a couple of drinks on Friday, which somehow turned into us getting Four Loco and going back to our friend's house.  I didn't get sick or crazy drunk or anything after having one, but it kept me up and I slept awful and felt hungover the next day.  I HATE hangovers which is why I usually stick to less than 3 drinks in a night, so that sucked.  We went to a friend's surprise 30th b-day party Saturday and I spent Sunday cooking and taking a long walk with Gordie.  Then I blocked a shot in broomball with my face - no broken nose, just a little bruised.

  • Weekend was pretty decent. Just stayed home Friday and saw a friend of mine. Sat evening went to a friends house cause they had come friends from Chicago in town. They convinced me to go to the bar with them. All fine and dandy until some girl tried to start some stuff with one of my friends. She was trying to defend herself and we got kicked out of the bar. LOL. Oh well. Sunday I did some laundry hung out with some friends and made sheppard's pie - ymmm.

  • Wow, a full-week suspension is hardcore! Is that pretty typical or are the one-day suspensions still the standard?

  • FYI, now through November 14, you can take in old strands of incandescent Christmas lights (working or not) and trade them in at Home Depot to get $3 off a new strand of LED lights instead (one $3 coupon per old strand turned in). If any of you were thinking about switching to LED for the electricity cost savings, this might be a good time to do it. Home Depot doesn't have a hugely extensive assortment of lights to choose from, but they have some good basics.

Our lights have been up for a couple weeks now...I'm getting so excited to turn them on!

Thank you for this!!  We were just yesterday talking about swtiching to LED.

  • The weekend itself was okay... Friday night was spent finishing packing my bedroom and things.  Saturday night was spent finishing packing Paul's bedroom and things.  Sunday was spent having Paul's dad fix my car and driving all the way to White Cloud to get a bed that we bought on CraigsList.org.  Monday is where the trouble started - got news from our mortgagor that we will no longer be closing on Friday.  The sectional that we were interested in on Craig's List was sold.  Paul drove all the way to his dad's work after work to trade his car for the truck to drive to see a table that we wanted to buy, to be disappointed in it and not buy it, and then he had to drive all the way back to his parents' house to switch the car and truck back.  Monday sucked.  Fingers crossed for a better Tuesday.
