Re: just wondering...

  • There's quite a lot of room between once/week and never.

I talk to my dad on the phone an average of once/month. Sometimes it ends up being more, sometimes less.

  • I live in the same town as my parents and so see them often. I only really make quick phone calls to share information, ask a question, check in about something.

I agree with pp, there's a big gap between once a week and never.

  • You don't have a daily option.  I call my mom every morning.  She is elderly and lives alone.  I know she gets very lonely, plus I worry about her.  We talk anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes every morning.

  • I don't talk to my mom every day, but close to it.
  • My mom emails me and my sister daily at work (Monday through Friday.)  One of us usually responds to her.

I talk on the phone with her maybe once a month.  I see her (they live 3 1/2 drive away) about once a quarter.

  • When I first moved out last fall. My relationship with my parents was strained and I didnt talk to them for almost 6 months. But we worked through everything. I talk to my mom almost every other day, if not more. I talk to my dad a few times a week and see him every Friday, we go out for a drink and dinner. I am lucky to live in the same city as my parents so we also see them alot.

  • You need another option "The frequency depends on what is going on".

I can talk to my my family (mother included) anywhere from every other week to every other day to a couple times a day, all depending on what is going on in our lives.

If there is nothing new OR if my life is way to busy with minutia, either of us may not call as much.  However, during the last days of my SIL's pregnancy, we were talking a couple times a day, as updates were trickling down.

The thing is, living under expectations (be they self imposed or imposed by others) will put pressure on your 'connection' that can only stress everyone out.

If you open yourself up to going with the flow, you will find that happy medium.

  • To big a gap between once a week and never.  My mom about 6 times a year, my dad about every other week.  It also depends on what is going on in our lives.

  • since my parents are divorced none of your options fit me. i speak to my mom pretty much every day.every other day. we ususally email at work too-we're super close. i speak to my father about once a month.

if you want to speak to your mom more-call her more. MAKE the time to call her don't use the excuse there's not enough time.

  • Well, according to this poll...never..?

I don't call them once a week. It probably works out to about twice a month.
