I have intentionally non-matching ornaments.  The matchy trees are nice to look at in the holiday displays at stores, but at home I need something more interesting.

I'm considering starting the Christmas season early in my house, since it's likely that the creature in my womb will hijack the actual day.

Get the really huge tree, Noisy!  I miss being able to have 12 foot trees.  I might get one this year and put it in our dining room (the only place we have vaulted ceilings) if Mr. Spiderman will let me.  But the trade-off is that it's not a room we spend much time in and you can't see it from the street.

We get a real tree every year. The church down the street from us has a lot so we pick it out, haul it home, get needles all over and curse about it, and then decorate. I love that tradition.

For us our apartment is a riot of color, and eclectic art, and clutter of found objects. When we do decorate for the holidays it almost has to be matchy matchy and themed or I would go blind.
