Kinect ROCKS!!!

Every year, DH and I, instead of separate gifts for Christam, get each other something we will both enjoy.  Two years ago it was Guitar Hero, last year we were saving money for the wedding, so he got me a kitten and I got him something small for his drum set. This year it's Kinect for Xbox.  Since I had a $30 off if I purchased in the first week, we decided to buy it earlier.... and WE LOVE IT... This is really revolution in gaming.  I don't plan often, but tell you what - there is an EA Sports Active Work out game that I will definitely buy, because the whole deal is cheaper than the gym membership.

If you have x-box, kinect itself is pretty affordable. We needed to upgrade our x-box because it was like 5 years old and got messed up now and then, so our bundle cost like $275.  But, we got two games with it as well.  I just can't imagine how I played games before, and I only played it for like an hour today :) LOVE IT!!!

Have you experienced Kinect yet?

Re: Kinect ROCKS!!!

  • we dont have xbox, so iv never used it..but sounds cool!
  • I'm afraid to ask b/c if DH gets wind then he will want it and I'm not sure we can fit another toy around the TV.  We have Wii, Rockband, Xbox 306, and all the accessories.  Our living room is getting full!

  • I work at Best Buy so the day Kinect came out I was told to just stay by it and demo it and show customers how to use it. We didn't get as much traffic as we thought we would so I pretty much got to play with it for six hours

  • I've heard good reviews of kinect, although DH and I are dedicated Nintendo followers. I have EA sports for the Wii and I love it.  I'd imagine the workouts are pretty similar on the Kinect, just using a motion sensor instead of the wiimote. The part that I don't like about EA sports on the wii is that the game is weirdly sensitive to how you move if you don't hold the wiimote just right (even if you are performing the exercise correctly) and I don't know that a webcam would automatically fix those issues unless they spent more time designing the game. It still works, it just tells you that you need to work harder and that you didn't complete all of the reps which is kind of annoying.

  • I just got Just Dance 2 for the Wii and tried a workout yesterday. It was fun.

Between that, getting back to the gym (went today) and Zumba I am getting committed to dropping some pounds!

Kinect sounds cool. Just went out this morning to get DH a video game for his Xbox.  He plays that one on his own though.

  • DH and I have both the PS3 and the Xbox360, but don't have the kinect.  I did, however, buy DH the Playstation Move and we LOVE it!  It's so much more real than the Wii, in my opinion, but this probably has something to do with having "real" looking people as your players.  We've played the Move almost every night since we got it a few weeks ago!
