How would you mix this cocktail?

Cocktail - passion fruit, cranberry, pineapple and coconut rum

For my BFF's bachelorette this weekend, we're going to have a little pre-party before going out.

She recently went on vacation and LOVED a drink that she had, so we're trying to re-create it as the pre-party signature drink.

What would you guess the ratio is for each of the above?  Do you think we should make it a punch or individual drinks (so some can be stronger than others.)

TIA!

Re: How would you mix this cocktail?

  • I'd probably mix the fruit juices in equal parts and put in a pitcher.  Then have the bottle of coconut rum with a shot glass to measure.  Add ice to a glass, pour in on shot rum, fill glass with juice.  People can add adjust the rum as needed.

A thought for the first round might be to make ice cubes with the juice instead of water (you can even  get some naughty molds for it).

  • Here are the things I would consider...

What proof is the coconut rum? Some of them are a lower proof than regular. For instance, if you buy Bacardi Coco it is not as strong as regular Bacardi. If that's the case, you'll want to use both regular rum and the coconut rum. That's fine. Lot's of cocktails have more than one alcohol.

What kind of cranberry juice are you using? Most are a mix of juices. Read the label. If it has other juices, are those flavors you want? I personally would not want a mix of grape and apple juice in a tropical cocktail. Try to find a real cranberry juice and only use a small amount for color.

I'm not sure about passion fruit juice. I just don't have experience with it. Again, read the ingredients.

I would practice mixing ratios... good excuse for a pre-party. My guess would be something like this per drink...

1.5 ounces Bacardi Coco or other coconut rum

.5 Bacardi (silver is the white label. they also have gold)

    1 ounce cranberry

    1 ounce passionfruit

Fill with pineapple (Lakewood Organic makes the best pineapple juice)

Taste it like that and make adjustments as needed.

Another idea is using a little Coco Lopez. It comes in a can. You'll need to mix it up (blender)... or warm it up a little and stir it. One spoon per drink should give it enough coconut flavor.

Have fun. Congratulations to your friend.

  • Thanks!

I like the idea of mixing the juices.

I think one of the girls bought Malibu rum, so that's what we'll be using.
