themed gift for entire family?
Is this a horrible idea? We are super poor this year and have hardly any money to spend on the holiday. My brother and sister in law live 2,000 miles away so we will be mailing their gifts this year. They have 4 kids (2 five year olds, a 7 yr old and a 9 yr old). Sometimes just the shipping on their gifts is more than what I pay for them! I was thinking of doing a themed gift for all of them, but not sure what. Any ideas or is this just a not so good idea altogether?
Re: themed gift for entire family?
I think its a great idea
Board game night or movie night are good.
Snow-day kit? Warm gloves, hats, mittens, snowman supplies and hot chocolate for afterwards?
Or just purchase and have sleds sent directly to them.
My dad has 7 brothers and sisters. All of them have kids and spouses so that is alot of people to buy for and this was a common thing that was done for christmas. Different theme baskets.
Movie Nights - a few $5 movies, popcorn, 2 liter and candy
Game Night - Board games, playing cards and a few little trinkets.
Movie tickets or restaurant gift certificates.
Its not a horrible idea, we are doing the same. Im doing mostly gift baskets filled with foods/baked goods. The kids in our family are getting crayon rolls Im making along with coloring/workbooks from the dollar tree :

A board game with snacks (popcorn, movie size candy from the dollar store) would be fine too, or movie night theme.
I think it's a great idea. A few years ago we got one, the kids weren't too happy about it becuase they each didn't have their own gift to open, but once they saw what was in it they thought it was great. We had a pizza stone in it with GC's for 2 grocery stores to get everything we needed to make homemade pizza. It also came with a GC to Blockbuster, it had candy, popcorn etc. Everything we needed for a family fun night. It also had coloring books and stuff for activities.
This year we are getting my nieces a family zoo pass. IF they have a zoo or aquarium and like to go it would be a good option to look into.
You can also check out sites like restaurants.com and siezethedeal.com to see if their city is on the list and look for discounted GC's that you can buy and ship to them later.
