Blogging: Worth the effort?

For those of you who have a blog, have you found it to be a rewarding experience? Do you think it's worth the effort you put into it?

I've been toying with the idea of blogging, but I keep talking myself out of it with the usual types of negative thoughts (i.e. no one will read it, it's a waste of time, etc.) I'm sure all those things are true to some extent, but I'm wondering if the overall satisfaction you have creating it outweighs the downsides.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

- Diane

Re: Blogging: Worth the effort?

  • I have been wondering the exact same thing! I read everyone's blogs, especially cooking blogs, and think, "oh I can do this" then I worry no one would read it, so why bother.

I'll read your blog if you read mine! Smile

  • I LOVE blogging! I love just being able to vent. Its kind of like my own diary... i love it. You shoudl try it.
  • Thanks, ladies, for the input! I guess ultimately I need to do it for myself and not for whatever other people think of it, so I guess it doesn't matter if anyone reads or not. And if I do start one, I will definitely share! :0)

  • I keep a few different blogs for different reasons.

My photo blog is a place for me to showcase my best pictures - very little "talking"

Our married life blog - we've had it since the early days of our engagement. We use it to keep our friends and family all over the place posted with what is going on in our life.

My personal blog - I'm currently using it as a reading list. I post what I've read and a short synopsis of it. Helps me remember what I've enjoyed. I doubt anyone reads it at all :)

Figure out what you want to say, who you want to say it to and how often you want to do it. Also make sure not to reveal any personal info on your blog that you don't want complete strangers to know!

  • I love blogging! I don't worry if  no one reads it because it's like my own personal little journal.  It's very therapeutic and helps a lot with everyday stress of life!
  • really there is not much effort in blogging.  Its like writing an email, add a pictures, and uploading it.
