Re: I have 1 month to plan a bridal shower!! Help!
Don't worry! You will have plenty of time to plan something wonderful!
My MOH had a really neat game for my stagette and I think you could use it for a shower as well! She sent out (with the invitation) a request that everyone attending buy and bring a *new* pair of underwear, something that they, themselves, would wear, all in the bride's size. Then at the shower give the bride all of the underwear and she has to guess which pair came from whom. At the end, she gets to keep all of the underwear and have a laugh about who wears what.
But I would have to say that my hand's down favorite thing about my shower was a little something my MOH put together. She contacted all of the women attending the wedding and asked them to send her their favorite recipe and some words of wisdom for me. She then compiled all of the recipes into a wonderful book and gave it to me with a beautiful shot of my husband and I on the front. I cried when she gave it to me. It had recipes from my Grandmothers, from my DH's grandmothers (past down to his mom and aunts), even some from a deceased friend's parents (her favorites). It was the most memorable gift I received.
As for invites, check out www.etsy.com for some cute and sometimes inexpensive bridal shower invites
Hope that helps!
You have plenty of time. First pick a theme. It doesn't have to be cheesy but at least get some colors or a motif that you can use throughout. One of my colors was purple and my MOH knew we'd be carrying hydrangeas so she went with a lavender hydrangea theme. Another friend of ours is more of a diva so we did rhinestones and bright pink. Having a foundation like that will help you make quick decisions on decor, invites, etc.
Check out vistaprint or quick invites with a variety of themes--maybe use that to chose a theme. Get those out within the next 2 weeks.
Then ask all the bridesmaids to bring some food--assign everyone something--sandwiches, desserts, a salad, fruit, appetizer bites, etc. Search online for a great punch recipe and add in a signature cocktail or wine.
If you like games, choose two or three and have small gifts for the winners--Starbucks gift cards, potted plants, fancy soaps or other generic but nice gifts for women will work. Then just look cute and make the day about the bride.

If budget is tight, how about making the shower at a non-meal time like 3pm and calling it "champagne & cupcakes" You could offer juices for mimosas and berries to drop in the bubbly. You could offer different flavor cupcakes and frosting. And you can throw in some simple, inexpensive, non-sweet snacks like veggies/dip, cheese/crackers, spinach dip. And of course, other drink options like iced tea, lemonade and bottled water.
For games: it really depends on your crowd and if your bride is into it. I'm a fan of the toilet paper wedding dress, but a lot of people aren't. You could also do like a wedding word scramble that's pretty low-key. You can play BINGO while bride is opening gifts (the squares will be the names of things purchased from hre registry).
To add to the "cupcake" theme you can have small plain cakes and white frosting and little decor items and have a wedding cake decorating contest.
Hope this helps. GL!
"Something Blue" would be easy for decor--blue table coverings, blue paper products, etc.
I love the champagne and cupcakes idea--I'm going to tuck that away for my sister
Again, depending on the crowd, another fun game I did for my cousin is have a secret person recording her reactions to the gifts she opens such as "Oh WOW I always wanted that" or "Yay, but I'll have to learn how to use it". Then after all the gift opening the secret person lets everyone know what she's been doing and that these are phrases the bride will be saying on her wedding night. When you put them in that context, they are hilarious but rarely ever raunchy in case grandma attends the shower. And it's totally a free "game" and is just funny.
There's another game I like about guessing what the white powder is in a baggie. There are quite a few different things in this category that are hard to figure out when they are not tasted: sugar, salt, baking soda, white pepper, flour, etc.
We had a shower once where we did a "dessert bar." I made up a poem about the couple being sweet, etc. We had four different types of layer cakes (chocolate, coconut, red velvet, and strawberry), lemon bars, cookies, fruit pizzas, etc. It turned out really cute and everyone loved it!
Two of us gave the shower, and we spent less than $50 apiece. Our bunch hates games, though, so I'm no help there.
