I looked up that book you mention in the TT post below. It looks good. Do you think it would make a good gift for my MIL? She loves to read, but isn't super religious, but is going through a pretty serious bout of depression, anxiety and loneliness. I just was thinking of something that could cheer her up and like the subtitle says, give her a little perspective on things that they aren't as bad as they seem.
Re: **nyrek**
It would be PERFECT for her. It has some hints at religion...but very little. I'm not religious at all and was not put off by anything. It's much more philospohical than religious. And it's an easy read. I read 2 chapters waiting for a docotrs appointment, and had the whole book read in 2 days.
It really shows how people going through hard times can really work out of it by just changing perspective. What I really liked is that it doesn't try to make you buy into "Things aren't that bad." It acknowledges that, yes...things really suck!!! But what to do with that knowledge is where it gets good. Very cool.
This is the same author who wrote "The Traveller's Gift" if you've ever heard of that.
