Hi Everyone -
Longtime lurker, first time poster here. I live out in Beaverton, and my husband and I recently got a husky shepherd mix pup (almost 2 years old) from the Humane Society. As winter descends upon us, we're looking for ideas on what to do with him during our dreary, rainy, winter months.
We're used to taking him to dog parks and for walks - but that will be much harder now that the rain is starting to be a daily occurrence.
Any ideas as to what to do with the furbaby this winter? Hubs has been out of a job for a year now, and I'm a teacher, so the cheaper the better
Anybody want to do puppy play dates? My pup loves all dogs - and believes that everyone he meets is meant to be his best friend.
ETA: We love Dogs at Play in Forest Grove - but can't send him there all the time
Re: Newbie Here - looking for dog place recommendations
There is an indoor dog park in SE and I thought there was one in Tualitin??
Here's a link to the one in SE http://fidos.squarespace.com/
we haven't been there before but I'm dying to try it with Pasco.
Our pup hates the rain but when we grab a leash and he knows we're going for a walk, he'll go anywhere. Sometimes, you just have to put on your rain coat and get a little wet.
ETA: The other park is in Tigard. Here's the link http://www.goinbark.org/
JRD, thanks for the rec to that indoor dog park!
We do a lot of indoor games with our dog. We work on new tricks, we play hide and seek with his favorite toy, things like that. We go for bike rides - that boy hates the rain but his love of bike rides his stronger. And we watch for the slightest break in weather when we can go to the dog park. Even when it's cold, if it's not raining we'll be there. In fact, I've been known to take him on New Years Eve!
Where and what do you teach? I teach theatre out in the Reynolds district.
I teach high school English out in Forest Grove - hence the love of the Dogs at Play place in Forest Grove.
Nice to meet another teacher!
Thank you for the recommendations! I think we'll check out the one in Tigard - slightly closer, and a bit cheaper.
Much appreciated!
We do too! Maybe we've seen you there - we have the big fluffy husky shepherd mix - Mukluk!
