How would you word this invite/announcement?

I'm looking for advice on how to word an invite for a graduation party for both me and my husband. We both graduate on the same day with our bachelor's degrees. I don't want it too formal, but I wouldn't mind having something about our degrees in there. I just don't want it to be too lengthy.

What I had so far as my only idea is:

" You are invited to a graduation celebration in honor of Jane and John Smith "

Ideas? Thank you!

Re: How would you word this invite/announcement?

  • That makes it sound like someone else is hosting the party. I think if you throw your own grad party, it should be more casual, like, "We'd love for you to join us as we celebrate finishing our degrees."
  • Well technically someone else is hosting the party (my MIL). I'm just trying to figure out what I want the invitations to say because I've never seen a "couple" graduation announcement.
  • Is it informal?  When I got my degree, my husband threw a big party with the invite basically saying "Wife is finally done with X years of working toward her degree--she's ready to party!  Join us in the festivities here, on this day at this time."  For yours, just change the names and pronouns to be for both of you.

My concern was to be less like "Come celebrate my accomplishment" and more like "I'm so relieved to be done; I want to party and I want you to be there"

I think this is great Isgarver!
