Baby Shower gifts!

Me and a couple of my friends are hosting a baby shower for our really close friend and we have decided to all pitch in like $50 a piece and get her some really nice things that she needs. So to all the ladies out there who have babies or are about to have babies..... What did you get at your baby shower that you really loved and used?

If she hasnt got her stroller or car seat that would be a good gift for you guys to go in on. Or a pack n play. A swing...a baby monitor. Those would all be really good gifts. Or a spa gift certificate for the mommy to be-I'm sure she would love that.

Ditto everything Rachel said. When I threw a shower for my bestfriend a couple years ago the hostesses all pitched in and got her a stroller.

Everything they said above......plus you might check and see if she needs a nice rocker/glider or her baby bedding.  Those might not be in the budget ya'll have allowed so I am not sure if they are good suggestions.  I guess it depends on how many people are going in together.

Yeah, those are all great ideas.  I think going in together to get a big ticket item would be better than getting several small things.  There are so many expensive things you need when having a baby and most people don't spend that much on a shower gift so you end up buying them yourself.  A group of my friends went in together and got me my PackNPlay and that was great.  The same group and I went in together for other friends and got them their strollers.

I have a question on this subject too... what if the person didn't register for big items?  We want to buy my SIL a nice gift, but using her regisry it would probably be a collection of small items. 

Would you rather someone buy you a big item not on the registry or several small items that are on it?
