This may be funny, but I know it's sweet. Mike is out of town so the kids and I went out to dinner with friends last night. As we were driving home Maggie said "we're going to see Daddy!" I told her he was on a trip for work and we wouldn't see him for a couple days. She paused a moment and replied "that's okay, I'll look for him in my binoculars!" and held her hands up to her eyes like binoculars.

In other kid news that may or may not be amusing to anyone but me, while we were watching The Sound of Music, during the scene where the kids sing "So Long, Farewell," Will said, "Where are they going Mommy?" And I said, "They're going to bed, so they're singing a good night song to the people at the party. And Will exclaimed, "Oh! I miss them already!"

I was in the middle of changing Lila's sheets yesterday, so the mattress was out of the crib.  She laid down on and asked me to lay beside her (rare, this kid is NOT into cuddling) Then she pointed to the ceiling light and said "sunny beach" so we pretended the light was the sun, we made sandcastles and swam.  

I have NO idea where she got the beach thing from, but it was nice to pretend for a bit.

Lila clearly misses the beach, as many of us do!

Which reminds me, did you go to Cancun last year?  We are going in February and I may pick your brain about it.  We are staying at the JW Marriott beach resort.

We went to Playa Del Carmen.   I went to Cancun for one night about 13 years ago and it left sucha  bad impression that's I'd never go again.   Keep in mind, though, I was staying in crap hostels and was looking more for a backpackers experience.   I'm sure the resorts there are fantastic.

Oh, that's right.  We figure we're not going to spend much time away from the resort.  One of Ian's friends just came back from London and his mom said she had a heckuva time finding food that he'd eat.  That's starting to worry me, but I figure Ian will at least always eat french fries and pancakes.

My MIL is currently sleeping in my guest room and it's taking all I've got not to run up there and smother her with a pillow.......

 

On a side note what is your due date? And congrats!

Kay, as the mom of a picky eater resort living was GREAT.   Lila ate cheese, bread, yogurt and fruit for pretty much every meal off the buffet but it allowed me to add other things to her plate to see if she'd try them yet not have the "I made this for YOU, now please eat it" frustrations

Thanks Jen, Congrats to you too.  I'm due June 26th.

I can't stop laughing at this. *** Van Lesbian (since the nest will censor it) fell asleep on his surfboard, woke up miles from the shore, and porpoises pushed him back to safety! What a wonderful world!
