My family always does turkey for Thanksgiving and ham for Christmas. H's family does turkey for Thanksgiving and prime rib for Christmas.

My family does turkey for Thanksgiving and prime rib (yum!) For christmas. His family does a small turkey and a ham for every holiday. Both cooked the night before and warmed up right before dinnertime.m. Not so crazy about that.

Last year DH and I opted to stay home for dinner rather than going to his parents / my parents house. We made a ham and a bunch of sides for the two of us. It was a nice quiet dinner and we both enjoyed it. I think we will do something similar this year.

DH grandmother always had filet mignon with this specialy sauce that has red and green peppers in it that she makes. It is SOOOOOO good, but VERY expensive for as many people as we have on that side of the family. She passed away this year so I am not sure if we will have that or change it to something else.
