Cousins Wedding Review, 2.5/5

So, Thursday just been DH and I flew back to NZ for my cousins wedding.  He is 28 and although I haven't had much to do with him over the years, I am very close to his sister.

The wedding was held at a lake, about 2.5 hours from the city where everyone lives.  It had special meaning for my cousin, so I don't begrudge them holding it that far away.  What was disappointing was the fact it was galeforce winds at the lake and there was no shelter offered, no seats, no toilet and the Bride was an hour late for the 5 minute civil ceremony.

After that we drove the couple of hours back to the reception area.  Nibbles were from 4.30pm.  We got there at about 5.20pm to find the $500 bar tab had already run out.

Food was great.  Simple buffet, then dessert, then snacks at around 10pm.  However, the brides mother left the reception to go change cars(?) just before dinner was meant to be served which pushed service back an hour, because she was late returning.

Speeches were okay, bestmen were drunk and swore and then the groom called his mother a couger  Interesting stuff.  We left at about 10.30pm.

On the upside, the bride and their two year old daughter looked beautiful, and everyone had a good time despite the wind.  But, if someone needed a wedding planner, it was certainly this couple.

Re: Cousins Wedding Review, 2.5/5

  • Isn't it funny how you have a different perspective on weddings after having planned one yourself? It's unfortunate that they didn't really keep their guests in mind. A lot of couples get really wrapped up in themselves and don't think/care about how comfortable their guests will be at the event.
