Birthstone necklace?

DH and I are thinking about getting his mom a birthstone necklace for Christmas. We would obvously get his and his brother's birthstones in it. Would it be weird to have mine and his brother's wifes in there too? MIL is very close to both us girls.

I don't think so, esp since you guys are close.  When I got married I was going to give a birthstone necklace to the mom's and was going to do put all of ours in it.

I think if you guys have a great relationship then it is something she'd love.  If anything, you can choose a necklace where each stone is on a charm.  That way she can add any future family members to it as well, ya know, like *ahem*babies*ahem*.

I got MIL one of these last year:

On the front, I included the birthstones of DH, BIL, myself, and BIL's fiance.  On the back, I engraved: DH's bday, BIL's bday, our wedding date, and their wedding date (when we officially became a part of the family!)

MIL loves it.  She wears it all the time and thought it was really thoughtful.

That's the one I was looking to get her!  I didn't know you could change the engraving though...love this idea!  Thanks!

really cute idea!!  I think it would be good to put the girls in it too if you're all close.
