10 tickets to a bowl game.

FIL told DH that based on the # of  years he's had season tickets for multiple sports (25 years of football and men's and women's basketball) AND the amount of money he's donated (over the course of 30+ years) that IF Michigan State goes to the Rose Bowl he qualifies to put in a bid for 10 tickets.  We're already promised a pair, too!

DH and I already have our plan set up for New Year's IF Michigan State makes it.  I love working for an airline and I love that my airline flies to 4 SoCal locations.

But because it works out too perfectly, it won't happen.  Just watch.

  • Shunned.  Let the hating begin.

  • I wonder though.... if MSU doesn't make the Rose Bowl, should we fly to another bowl game?

I've been to several Final Fours, a World Series, an NBA playoff (but not championship), an NHL playoff... but never a bowl game.  It might be worth it.

  • Well, if I was a big MSU fan, I'd still go to a bowl game, even if it wasn't the Rose Bowl. But bowl games are really fun and if you've never been...I guess I don't know why you wouldn't go, just because it isn't the Rose Bowl...

We went to the Outback Bowl last year and even though it wasn't a "big bowl" we had tons of fun. Such a great atmosphere, fun to play in a completely different town and arena, the city was fun...

We are planning on going to whichever bowl game Auburn makes it to this year and we've been planning that long before we were 11-0. If we make it to the title game we may not be as likely to go (because of the time commitment of flying out to Arizona and DH's job)...

  • True.... I think we'd still end up going, depending on where the location is.  Florida is easy because we have multiple flights to Tampa or Orlando (they're projected for the Outback or the Capital One bowl if they don't get the Rose Bowl bid).  If they go to another bowl that my airline doesn't fly to, then I think we'd pass.... It all depends in the end!

  • If I were you, I'd plan on going to the bowl game, regardless - if the location allows you to do so.

We always go to the bowl games if they're within a day's driving distance. They're fun... plus, our family love traveling, so jumping in the car and taking off is nothing.

  • I would probably still try to go assuming it is not too difficult to get to.

  • I hope State makes it! I grew up cheering for them but have been conflicted this year because I started grad school at Iowa. I will definetely be cheering hard for Iowa this weekend though. From what I've heard, if Iowa can beat Ohio State this weekend, MI State should go to the Rose Bowl.

  • We went to the Orange Bowl last year to cheer on my DH's beloved Hawkeyes.  It was fun.  We enjoyed it so much we are hoping to follow them again this year.  Go to the bowl game where ever it is.
