So I really want to decorate for Christmas this year, but I realized that I have no idea how. My parents were never much for Christmas decorating, other than putting up the tree.
The only ideas I have right now are to fill a vase I have with some round ornaments and put it... somewhere, and tack Christmas cards to a ribbon and hang that on a wall as I did last year.
Part of the issue is that I use our dining table as a desk, and we also have a tendency to use our coffee table for stuff too, so decorations on either of those surfaces tend to just get in the way.
We don't have a mantle, and no space for a tree.
Pics of my place in my bio. Any ideas??

I always like to replace my regular accessories with holiday ones.. like candle holders, vases, and figurines. I would buy a lot of that kind of stuff for your vignette above the desk in the office. Target has a bunch of cheap options, as well as Pier One.
you could always make a cute "holidays" banner to hang in the entry way below the clock too. (like this one from Thrifty Decor Chick)
I also like to bring a lot of metals like silver & gold into my house around the holidays... and those can always be used all year long too! think mercury glass and shiny gold.

Ohhh! I *love* Christmas decorating!!!
One thing I think I'm going to miss this year that I have done every year is a string of twine with socks clothespinned to it instead of stockings... Kind of a nod to the beginning of the tradition, when kids actually hung their "stockings" instead of Christmas stockings... Josh bought us new stockings on sale after Christmas last year, I think he didn't realize that I hung the socks because I liked the socks, not because I didn't want to cough up the money for stockings.
What about a wreath somewhere? Maybe instead of the clock above the pass through window, so you don't have to put any new holes in the wall?
