Christmas-y punch for a baptism

Does anyone have a nice punch recipe? We are having a baptism party the day after Christmas.  The baby could be only a week old by then so it won't be elaborate. I'll have a cold cuts/cheese platter to make sandwiches, a cake, coffee/tea and punch.

    Egg nog?

DH made egg nog last year for a Christmas Happy Hour party and it was a lot of prep work for him.   We won't have time on our side this year :)

Plus he told me the other day he felt like some people were apprehensive about the eggs.

  • I've never made the actual stuff from scratch.  You can buy cartons in the store, add some sprite, bourbon, and nutmeg and you have happy people.

The book in your signature is one of my favorites ever.  The author is hands down my favorite.

  • something with cranberry juice and sprite with some citrus floating in it?

  • I have used this punch at baptisms and showers before.  It's been well received.

2 750ml bottles sparkling apple cider

1 liter seltzer water (plain or lemon/lime flavored)

    3 large oranges

    2 lemons

1 6oz. can frozen lemonade concentrate

    1 tablespoon granulated sugar

    2 trays ice cubes.

Thinly slice the lemons and oranges and place in the punch bowl.  Pour in the thawed lemonade.  Stir in the seltzer water and apple cider.  Add sugar to taste.  Add ice.

Great idea! I actually drink cranberry juice with ginger ale all the time (not sprite and minus the fruit, lol). I like how the soda fizz cuts the tartness from the cranberry juice and that juice would make a pretty color for the day after Christmas. You're right though, floating fruit like maybe lemons or limes would look nice in it, sort of fancy it up  :o)

  • you could also just serve a red wine warm with mulled spices
