Question for the Moms in the group

What item do you wish your parents/in-laws would have at their house that you would not have to bring over each time?  We bought a playpen, have some spare clothes, wipes, lotion and baby bath and of course a Vikings blanket for Grandpa. ;)  Is there anything else you can think of?

Re: Question for the Moms in the group

  • A bouncy chair or swing.  Otherwise I think you have it covered :)
  • good idea....I will check out once upon a child this week.  He should be here anytime now....She is due on Sunday  :)

  • How exciting!  Congratulations!!
  • Your own base for the carseat. Maybe a snap-n-go stroller if you plan on taking the little one out a lot. Congrats!

  • A high chair and a pack-n-play.  Keep some extra bottles on hand and formula (if that is how they choose to feed or supplement).

  • My parents are nearby and have a diaper area WITH diapers (I provide the wipes and diapers.)  They also have a high chair (Really just a Fisher Price booster seat thingie.  Neither of my kids ever sat in a high chair.)  She also had her own car seat, not infant but the convertible one, and toys.  And a few changes of clothes for blow-outs.
  • I think you have it mostly covered too! The other things my mom has that help us out are diapers, high chair, swing (which was very useful with DD because she did NOT like to sleep in pack in play for a long time, so she slept in swing), and a change of clothes or two. Makes it so easy for me to go over there because i don't have to pack a bunch of stuff!

  • Coming from an aunt and a few months out, but one thing I always wished I would just go out and buy were sippy cups! Such an overlooked item I feel like, but it was hard to help a thirsty nephew without a cup!

  • Everyone has pretty much covered it...a high chair, some kind of bouncey chair/swing, a stroller and a pack and play. Then, I'd say just pick up a few toys as the baby progresses to each stage so you have some on hand.

If you want to kleep some necessities, that would be good too. Diaper cream, diapers (just a small pack at a time though since a lot of babies grow through diapers pretty quickly those first 6-8 months), wipes, baby lotion, maybe some washcloths, a thermometer, a few onesies and a few PJ's.

As the baby gets older, you may want to keep some sippy's, plates, silverware. Some baby food and some "kid friendly" food depending on the stage the LO is at. When my mom keeps Olivia overnight, she runs out and grabs a small thing of whole milk so I don't have to bring any.

Both of our parents have their own carseats as well, which is a lifesaver!

  • My mom had a swing, diapers and a bottle. We gave her formula, it was nice to NEVER have to worry about anything there.
  • awesome!  Thanks for all the input ladies.  I did plan on a high chair as he gets older and of course Grandma will have toys.  A car seat isn't a bad idea either!  I will pick up 1 pack of bottles for at my place and as he gets older I planned on some sippy cups and a little plate set for him.  Thanks again ladies!
