Random Poll About Parents.

A poll on another board got me thinking:

How are you like your mom?

How are you like your dad?

How do you NOT want to be like your mom?

How do you NOT want to be like your dad?

Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO

Re: Random Poll About Parents.

  • How are you like your mom? My mom is really creative. She comes up with amazing ideas all the time.  I don't think I am quite as creative as she is, but we love chatting about creative ways to do things, or to solve problems.  She is also a people-person.  She can make anyone feel welcome and she loves being hospitable and entertaining.  I like to think that I have some of her warmth.

How are you like your dad?  My dad and I can talk for hours. We have the same views on religion and politics, and a whole slew of other issues.  He is very passionate like I am, and he is also very compassionate. He loves learning new things, and I do too.  Both of us are always eager to take on a new challenge.

How do you NOT want to be like your mom? My mom is pretty set in her ways. Some might call it stubborn.  I can be stubborn too, but I usually recognize it right away, and work on compromising.  My mom can also have a short fuse. I don't want to be as easily irritable as she sometimes is.

How do you NOT want to be like your dad? My dad is really long-winded. Sometimes I feel really bad that I tune out, but he is not the most concise person. :P I try to wrap things up a little more quickly.  Also, he is pretty unobservant.  I feel like I can tell him something 5 times, and he still won't know what I am talking about.  I try to pay attention when people tell me things, so I can remember it later on.

Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO

  • I filled this all out, because I think it's an interesting topic... but at the last second I had the totally irrational fear that somehow my not-so-tech-savvy parents would somehow come across this on the internet and their feelings would be hurt, so I panicked and deleted it.  :)
  • How are you like your mom? We're both pretty bossy and say what's on our mind.  We are both very determined and independent.

How are you like your dad?  We're both quick witted and funny.  We both have very big hearts and enjoy hosting friends and family.

How are you not like your mom?  She doesn't always have the best empathy skills.  Wink

How are you not like your dad? He doesn't mind manual labor.  I really do.

    Anniversary
  • How are you like your mother? Besides for looking a lot like her she passed on her love of amazing old movie to me.

I am sort of confused by the questions so I will answer both.

How are you not like your mother? I am very independent, she is not independent at all. I believe in women getting their education and she believes that getting an education is a waste and women need to tend to the home.

How do you not want to be like your mother? My answer is going to make me seem like a Debbie Downer so I'm not going to answer.

  • Ooh good poll!

How are you like your mom?  Like her, I enjoy helping people and being friendly with people. We also think manners in public are important.

How are you like your dad?  I kinda have his temper to an extent. Also his persistence and drive to take on new situations and solve problems.

How do you NOT want to be like your mom? I don't want to be as passive as she is. She is so sweet, but I think sometimes she needs to be a b*tch and stick up for herself a little more.

How do you NOT want to be like your dad? He is starting to turn into a bit of a cranky old man. I predict him to be one of those "GET OFF MY LAWN" types in about 10 years at the rate he's going.

  • How are you like your mom?  Oh gosh, my husband tells me I am becoming my mother more and more.  My face looks exactly like hers (except younger, and I have long blonde hair, she has short brown)  I also inherited her empathy, I always need to help people.

How are you like your dad?  I always have work on my mind and can never let it go until I have done everything...which never happens.  I go to work early and leave late, I have a hard time relaxing, I have to go go go!

How do you not want to be like your mom?   I don't want to keep wishing I had more time to do things I want, she always makes excuses and is starting to seem unhappy.  She just needs to live her life and let the dishes go a night!

How do you not want to be like your dad?  I want to make sure I make time for my family, since I take on his trait of working a lot, it is also easy to skip out on things with the family.  He was always gone at meetings or work things.

  • How are you like your mom? We are not very similar...I have a short temper like my mom. I am quick to raise my voice like my mom. We work at the same place, and have the same complaints about it :) I look JUST like her, have at every step of my life...and, we look just like her mom. Seriously - if you compared our baby pictures, you would not be able to tell the difference.

How are you like your dad? I have the same mind as my dad...we soak up useless information and facts, making us great at game shows. We both have always like TV and computers (and video games back in the day). We have a very similar sense of humor and are both very shy and standoffish.

How do you NOT want to be like your mom? I definitely want to be a better mom to my girls. I want to be more patient and understanding. And much more responsible in general. My mom is a very lonely and bitter person, and I don't ever want to end up like that. To give her credit though...since becoming a grandma, she's really changed a lot.

How do you NOT want to be like your dad? There's nothing I can think of, other than my Dad really doesn't have any friends. He's always been such a loner, and and homebody, that he really doesn't have anybody in his life other than his family, mainly my stepmom. Other than that, my daddy's perfect Big Smile.
