Re: MELLY! She is beautiful!!

  • I got kicked out of that last post.

    Here is the birth story.

Saturday I had contractions from 2-5 min apart from 4-5 pm, took a shower and they went away.
Saturday night I was wide awake which wasn't like me (I'd been going to bed at 8 because I usually was exhausted by that point.)
I stayed up to watch Amercian Gangster and didn't lay down until 10:30 and couldn't fall asleep until 11:30 which I thought was odd.
I woke up every hour to pee after that. I remember waking up at 3:30, looking at the clock and thinking great, another friggin night I'm not going into labor.
Went back to bed and woke up at 4:20 to a HUGE gush of water. I started yelling for Matt because I realized he went to lay on the couch because he'd been coughing all night. I had no idea what to do at that point! :) I looked at my labor sheet and it said that if my water broke I should go to the hospital but thought I had to be contracting 4-5 min apart. I called my sister, she said they told her to take a shower and then come up so that is what I did.
I showered, got ready and we took Jax to my sister's at about 5:00. The contractions started at that point and while we were driving to my sister's my water gushed out even more. I also had it gush when we got to the hospital and again in the room. They checked me into triage, admitted me to a room and the contractions were tolerable at this point. I was only 3 cm and 80% effaced. I talked to my doctor and he asked about pain and I said it was tolerable but that I did want an epidural when I hit a 4. Minutes after he walked out to do a c-section the pain became awful. I was checked and given an epidural and hour and a half later at 8:38 and it was heaven. I measured a 4 at that point and stayed there until 10:40 and then they started me on pitocin. I went from a 4-8 in an hour and twenty minutes and they said they'd be back at 1 to check me. By 12:45 I was ready to push. I couldn't feel any pain but could feel pressure. Finally at 1:10 they checked me, found out I was a 10 and ready to push. The doctor and nurses were arguing over a practice push (Dr was trying to convince the nurses that one push and her head would be out so did we want to "practice" or just do it??? and finally I started at 1:15. Three pushes and she was out at 1:25. I am so glad I didn't have to be induced this time and that my water broke on its own.
  • Thanks for sharing.  I am so happy for you and that this time is was easier and you went on your own.  She is a beautiful girl.
