5 months... still no video (need advice)

Evening, ladies...

OK, so our videographer contract said they'd have the wedding video to us by 4 months *at the latest* but "usually before that". At the 4-mo. mark I called and he was busy and said "in a couple more weeks" we'd have it. How'd I know we wouldn't and not a peep from them?

Anyway, the 19th will be 5 mos... what to do? Email him? Threaten him with telling all my local Knotties to beware of them? I'm so frustrated.  Plus, I wanted to give copies to the families for Xmas and now I'm not even sure I'd get it by then!

  • Sorry this is happening. It's got to be frustrating. Do you have a copy of the contract you signed? Because I would throw that in his face first. Maybe try to weasle out some sort of price break, refund, or discount.

    Good luck!

I'd also put in the review just how long it took to get your video.

  • If it's stated in your contract, you could remind him of that.  BUT keep in mind that you got married in one of the busiest months of the year.

Some brides were told not to expect one for at least 6 months.

DO NOT go to your local and post anything right now unless he just refuses to talk to you.  Wait until you know what's going on and have seen the video.

I know the waiting sucks but you need to call him.  If it's in the contract that he said 4 months, then you can remind him of that and it will make him move faster.

  • Yes, I have a copy of the contract, and when I called him at the 4-mo. mark I reminded him of that. He was literally at a trade show when he answered, sounded super busy and claimed he was "going to drop me an email" in the next couple days.

I don't think they're skirting out of delivering, I just think it's a case of them biting off more than they could chew (and I realize June is a super busy wedding month).

I just hate when people promise something and don't deliver, especially the $$ we paid!

  • we JUST received our video monday. (castle video)

if he works alone, or only with a partner, it's possible that he's just super behind. other clients may be stopping him from completing their videos too- not turning in music, or making too many changes/complaints, etc.

However, I would hope that he would be more up-front about the situation. :/ GL
