So, DH and I are heading to DH's family reunion with his mom, dad and awesome grandpa on Friday. The reunion is Saturday, and we'll be in town until Sunday. We're sharing a suite with his parents for two nights; we're paying for one of the nights, and for some of the gas on the way down/back.
They've e-mailed us a couple times asking for input on the snacks/food they're getting to take down (coffee, muffins, etc.) for breakfast/snacks for the 5 of us. We said we didn't have any suggestions (we'll eat anything) but we'd be glad to kick in for the food, etc. (and we're bringing some liquor -- it's a fun extended family). In lieu of kicking in for the food, FIL asked DH if we could pick up the tab for the breakfast Sunday (they always stop at the same restaurant on the way out of town) for the "group at the hotel."
Now, if the "group at the hotel" means the 5 of us who are traveling together, or the 5 of us and another aunt and uncle (who grandpa is sharing a suite with), that's totally cool; we'd love to do it. But if the "group at the hotel" is all of the 12-15 (or more) family members who are staying there, that's a bit much to ask, I think. Is this worth tactfully clarifying, or should we just roll with it and see what happens at breakfast? Do I need to remove the stick from my rear end? Thanks in advance, ladies!
Re: Reunion Breakfast
I'm also a little hung up on his choice of phrasing. Instead of saying, "Let's do breakfast on Sunday," saying "group at the hotel" leaves a wide door open.
I would respond, "We would be happy to cover breakfast for the five of us. That's no problem."
I don't see why your DH can't just say "You mean just the 5 of us, right? If so, sure, that's not a problem".
I wouldn't just roll w/ it and then everyone thinks the 2 of you are paying for them!

I don't think DH realized they might mean other family members, too, until I asked the question last night. I'll ask him to clarify when he talks to them again (which should be today).
