Carpet cleaner rentals

I know Home Depot rents out carpet cleaners but do you know of any other places?

Also have you rented a carpet cleaner before? How did it work out for you? Pros, cons.

 Thanks!

Re: Carpet cleaner rentals

  • Some grocery stores do as well.

I've rented before.  No complaints.  If I had a large area to do I would probably just hire someone because you can find good deals and it's kind of a pain in the ass to move your furniture.

  • We have the Bissell ProHeat 2x carpet cleaner and love it!  It's about $200 but you can probably find it on sale on Black Friday.

I like it because you can clean areas as needed vs having to do your whole house at once while you have the rental.

  • My mom rents from a grocery store twice a year and it makes a huge difference.

con: backbreaking since you feel the need to do your whole house while you have the machine

    No Siggy

  • We rented one once (somewhere in River Falls my SIL found for us), and I really wasn't overly impressed. Just last weekend we got a Hoover SteamPro w/ Clean Surge (one of the top recommended just from google searching) for $139 at Menards and I looove it. I was surprised how well it cleans even without any detergent, with just water. It's pretty lightweight too. From what we've spent renting one in the past, it was worth it to buy one - this way we can do as much or as little as we want, when we want. Depending on how  much space you're cleaning it can take a couple of days, and a lot of rentals are large and heavy.
