So, who here has lived outside city limits in the country?

Can you tell me pros and cons? DH and I are discussing this right now....I want to live in a house that's got an acre or two, but within city limits due to access to city water, city cops, not dealing with morons shooting their guns, etc. DH wants to be outside city limits, and has lived in both areas. If you've lived in the country outside city limits, I'd love to hear your thoughts about it.

Re: So, who here has lived outside city limits in the country?

  • I have lived in both and I prefer our current half acre in city limits to living outside city limits.  The only down side to our neighborhood is that we are septic and not city sewer but that isnt a huge deal since we still have city water and trash and nice streets to our house.

I don't think you will have to worry to much about morons with their guns if you really live on a few acres.  I mean why live that far out and buy a house right next to a nieghbor?  Police might be an issue, but I guess that depends on your county as some sheriffs offices are better than others.  Good luck getting a country boy to change his ways though.  I was much easier to get my city husband to move further out.
